SilverStar & Sovereign Lake December 5–8, 2024

SilverStar consistently has the best early season conditions anywhere in BC offering both cross-country and downhill skiing as well as snow shoeing. Because of issues finding suitable hotel accommodation in SilverStar we’ll be staying at the Prestige Vernon Lodge for a relaxing time with as much skiing or R&R as you want.

We will be departing early Thursday morning, arriving in Vernon mid-afternoon giving you time to unpack and have dinner.

We will spend the next three days (Friday through Sunday) skiing at Sovereign Lake and SilverStar. The joint trail networks of Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre and SilverStar Mountain Resort offer over 100km of expertly groomed trails (suitable for both classic and skate skiing).

You can ski either Sovereign Lakes or SilverStar. The SilverStar Nordic pass provides you with two gondola rides to the top of the SilverStar downhill area. From there, you can decide to explore the Silver Star trails or cruise down Lars Taylor way to the Sovereign Lake trails.

NOTE: Due to the difficulties on the road to Sovereign Lake in recent years, bus companies, including ISL, will no longer drive up to Sovereign Lake. Instead, we arranged with a local shuttle company. On Friday and Saturday there will be two shuttles to Sovereign Lake leaving from SilverStar in the morning, at approx. 9 and 10 a.m. In the afternoon there will be two shuttle runs back to Silverstar at approx. 2 and 3 p.m. Note that the shuttle holds a maximum of 24 passengers, so we will use a sign-up sheet to ensure everyone can make it to Sovereign Lake and back.

If you’re a downhill skier, you can enjoy the 3,269 acres of skiable terrain at the top-class SilverStar resort, widely known for its premium snow conditions. Snowshoers can also enjoy the many scenic trails at SilverStar.

Accommodation: At Vernon we’ll be staying at the Prestige Vernon Lodge in double-rooms. Rooms will be allocated to best accommodate the whole group.
