For the Family Day holiday weekend we will travel to Vernon to enjoy three days of skiing in the Okanagan staying at the Village Green Hotel. On Saturday (on our way to Vernon) we will ski for approximately 3 hours at Telemark Nordic in Glenrosa (West Kelowna) which has 50 kilometres of trails groomed for classic and skate skiing. Telemark also offers 62km of snowshoe trails. The lodge at Telemark sells snacks and light refreshments.
On Sunday, we head to Silver Star, where skiers can cross-country ski at Sovereign Lake, Silver Star, or both! The joint trail networks of Sovereign Lake Nordic Center and Silver Star Mountain Resort offer over 105 kilometers of daily groomed trails (suitable for both classic and skate skiing). Skiers can purchase a dual area cross-country pass that provides one ride to the top of the Silver Star downhill area. From there you can decide to explore the Silver Star trails or sail down Lars Taylor way to the Sovereign Lake trails. Downhill skiers can enjoy 3269 acres of skiable terrain at the top class Silver Star Resort, widely known for its premium snow conditions. Snowshoers can also enjoy the many scenic trails at Silver Star.
On Monday, we pack up, load the bus, and head off to ski Kelowna Nordic (McCulloch). Rustic facilities, friendly club members and 75 km of beautiful wooded ski trails (coupled with state-of-the-art grooming and track-setting) define the Kelowna Nordic Ski Club. Perfect for snowshoe enthusiasts, the area offers approximately 80 km of snowshoe trails, many with panoramic views. Two day-cabins make excellent stops where Skiers can eat lunch or snacks, warm up, and mingle with the locals. The Kelowna Nordic site has no food or water. Please bring all that you need.
