Trip Leader:

For this popular trip, we depart Saturday morning and return Sunday. We will stay at the beautiful Rock Ridge Canyon Resort, about 11 km outside Princeton. Included with our accommodation package is one dinner and one breakfast (both meals are buffet style with food choices for all dietary preferences). On Saturday (on our way to Princeton) we will ski at Manning Park. Manning Park Resort offers skiers a wide range of options for enjoying the out-of-doors. For cross-country skiers, there are 64 kilo4meteres of groomed trails suitable for both classic and skate skiing. A free shuttle to the Gibsons Pass ski area (or with the Skiers bus to Strawberry Flats) provides cross-country skiers with the option of a one-way ski back to the lodge. For snowshoers, there is an extensive flagged trail system that meanders through scenic parkland. Alpine Skiers can enjoy the terrain at Gibson's Pass ski area. At the end of the day relax by the stone fireplace at the Manning Park Lodge, or check out the cozy Bear's Den Pub. On Sunday, we will ski at China Ridge. (Note: classic skiing only.) China Ridge has 20 km of track set trails and another 20 km of untracked trails for backcountry enthusiasts. There are three shelters on the trails where one can enjoy an outdoor fire, and there is an emergency warming hut about 10 km's from the trailhead. While the terrain is undulating, most of the trails would be considered beginner to intermediate. Skiers have the option of snowshoeing on the many trails at China Ridge.
